Description: Blue Resilience is a community-based organization founded and led by young women and men from Bofa Village, Sokoni Ward, Kilifi North Sub-County, Kilifi County, Kenya. We work at the frontline of coastal conservation, where marine ecosystems and community livelihoods are tightly connected. Our approach is grounded in the belief that conservation succeeds when local people are not just beneficiaries, but co-designers and custodians of solutions. Our work focuses on bridging the gap between conservation science and everyday decision-making at the community level. We translate complex marine and environmental data into practical, locally relevant actions that support sustainable fisheries, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience. By combining scientific tools with indigenous knowledge, we ensure that marine protection delivers real economic, social, and environmental benefits to coastal households. Our Mission To protect and restore marine ecosystems through science-driven, community-led action that promotes sustainable resource use and strengthens coastal livelihoods. Our Vision Vibrant and resilient coastal ecosystems in Kilifi County where nature and communities thrive together, securing a regenerative future for generations. What We Stand For Cascading conservation science: turning research, data, and monitoring results into clear, usable insights for communities, local institutions, and policymakers. Amplifying community voices: using tools such as GIS mapping, mobile data collection, and remote sensing to support inclusive, evidence-based decision-making. Fostering holistic well-being: aligning with Kenya’s Blue Economy Strategy by advancing sustainable fishing, eco-tourism, and nature-based livelihoods that improve incomes while protecting marine ecosystems.
