Description: Nagogo Sport Fishing Cooperative Society implements community-based marine conservation and sustainable fisheries initiatives at Nu-u Reef, Open Bay, Papua New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. The cooperative works with customary marine tenure holders, local fishers, and community leaders to protect critical marine habitats, including coral reefs and sea turtle nesting and foraging areas. Current activities include reef and nesting beach monitoring, community environmental education, promotion of sustainable fishing practices, and collection of ecological data to address gaps in sea turtle nesting distribution and migratory connectivity. The cooperative is actively supporting the establishment and management of the Nu-u Reef Protected Area and is committed to open data sharing, local stewardship, and regional marine conservation outcomes.
