Description: Yemanyá agua y conservación's mission is to contribute to sustainable development and the conservation of natural heritage, associated with marine-coastal and continental freshwater ecosystems, through basic and applied research, local capacity building, environmental education, citizen participation, and collaboration with public and private institutions. Our work focuses on researching the effects of climate change on sea turtle nesting, with an emphasis on sex ratios and hatching success. Additionally, we develop environmental education projects and research that promote sustainable behaviors aimed at reducing incidental sea turtle bycatch, as well as the conservation of critical marine ecosystems such as beaches, coral reefs, and mangroves. Finally, research has also been conducted on the effects of illegal mining in rivers and freshwater tributaries in the northern region of Esmeraldas province.
