Description: Programa Tatô has the mission to contribute to sea turtle conservation and the sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems of São Tomé Island, São Tomé and Píncipe. To fulfil its mission, Programa Tatô promotes and develops research and conservation of sea turtles and the marine and coastal environment; provides consultancy services and advocates for the protection of the environment; promotes best practices and negative impact mitigation for sea turtle-watching ecotourism activities of partner organisations; intervenes in the scope of cooperation for the development of local communities and civil society by creating partnerships with local associations and counterpart organisations in other countries; provides education and long-term training for development and the sustainable management of natural resources; strengthen institutional and the generation of economic alternatives for local communities to reduce poverty among the most vulnerable populations.
