Description: Created in 1998, the Amana Nature Reserve (RNA) is located in northwestern French Guiana, in the communes of Mana and Awala-Yalimapo, and is managed by the Guiana Regional Nature Park (PNRG). It covers an area of around 14,800 hectares, stretching from the mouth of the Maroni to the mouth of the Organabo. Essentially a coastal reserve, it has been recognized as a wetland of international interest (Ramsar site) since 1993. It is one of the world's most important nesting sites for marine turtles.
Species of focus: Leatherbacks (Dermochelys coriacea), Olive ridleys (Lepidochelys olivacea), Green turtles (Chelonia mydas)
