Description: TOPASE: TOrtues et Pêche Accidentelle vers des Solutions de réductions Efficientes. The TOPASE project (Turtles and Accidental Fishing, towards Efficient Reduction Solutions) has emerged, in Martinique and Guadeloupe. Financed by the FEAMP via its measure 39 "Innovation linked to the conservation of biological resources of the sea", it revolves around the co-construction, with voluntary sea fishermen, of innovative devices and practices, making it possible to reduce these interactions and thus initiate the development of more sustainable fishing with selective gear.
Species of focus: Green turtles (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbills (Eretmochelys imbricata), Loggerheads (Caretta caretta), Leatherbacks (Dermochelys coriacea)
