Description: Cabo Verde Natura 2000 is the pioneering NGO in species conservation on the archipelago of Cape Verde. It started working in 1998, although it wasn’t officially and legally constituted until 2003. The basic pillars which define the NGO are: -To preserve the natural resources and habitats in Cape Verde, particularly in the island of Boa Vista. - Education and training of local personnel in the field of biodiversity conservation. -Environmental awareness and divulgation. - Investigation towards better knowledge in order to provide of tools for the conservation of species and habitats.
Species of focus: Green turtles (Chelonia mydas), Olive ridleys (Lepidochelys olivacea), Loggerheads (Caretta caretta)
